How does it work?

Online or Onsite?

  • Online: For individuals our classes are online with a live tutor. Our classes rely on screensharing technology but these are already standard on your computer. You do not require any special software.
  • Onsite: For groups we do on-site training if we have an instructor in your area. For example schools and home schools, please enquire on our registration form for a customised proposal for your group.

Reports and Certificates

  • After 10 lessons a progress report is issued
  • After approximately 40 lessons and the project deliverables met, a certificate is issued

What it is like

How is the training strucured?

Beginner group (Grade 1-4 : approx.)

We start off with block-based languages like Scratch 0 and Scratch to learn the tools. The projects include gaming, animation at a beginner level of complexity.

Intermediate Group (Grade 5-8 approx.)

Intermediate students are using block-based and text based languages like Scratch, Python and more. The projects include gaming, animation at an intermediate level of complexity.

Advanced Group (Grade 9-12 approx.)

Advanced students are using mainly text-based languages like Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java. The projects include gaming, animation, Web and App Development

Who is Code College's Coding for Kids ?

Code College is a web and Java dev training institution located in Gauteng establiched in 2004, with our holding company, Compuways established in 1990. We have 30+ years experience in the software industry, and 15 years in coding training at professional level

My child already has coding at school - will your training be appropriate?

Our syllabus is much more practical in nature and because we focus on practical projects, our students ar generally more capable than his/her peer at school. We have many reposrts form parents thanking us because their child's grade in coding / robotics increased drastically

How are your teachers selected?

Our teachers are selected to be well-skilled in coding and teaching, having completed professional coding and then teaching training with us on one of our professional coding bootcamps.

Where is Code College situated?

G19 Pinewood Square, Pinewood Office Park, 33 Riley Road, Woodmead, Gauteng. The Coding for Kids programme is mainly online, though. We do make exceptions for schools and groups that have their own venue within travelling distance form our trainers

What can I do after school with you?

You can continue on one of our school-leaver Coding Bootcamps to prepare you for a job in the Software industry. A bootcamp is an intensive and immersive learning experience that typically lasts for a few weeks or months.
