Capstone Project · Career Launch · Full Bootcamp Certificate
You have the skills — now prove it. This final module converts your technical knowledge into a job-winning portfolio, a polished CV and LinkedIn profile, and the interview confidence to land your first cybersecurity role in South Africa. Complete a capstone project, publish your GitHub portfolio, and receive Code College’s full Cybersecurity Bootcamp Certificate when all six modules are complete. The curriculum is built around what South African cybersecurity hiring managers actually look for.
Choose your capstone: (A) a full penetration test report against a HackTheBox / TryHackMe target — written to professional client-deliverable standard; or (B) a SOC incident response simulation — full IR report with timeline, containment actions, forensic artefacts and lessons learned. Week 1 is dedicated to planning, execution and peer review.
Structure and publish a professional cybersecurity portfolio repository: tool writeups, CTF walkthroughs, custom scripts, capstone report (redacted), and a polished README. How to evidence lab experience without exposing sensitive methodology. LinkedIn badge and GitHub profile optimisation.
South African cybersecurity job market overview: top hiring companies, salary ranges by cert and experience, recruitment agencies, LinkedIn sourcing by employers. CV structure for security roles — ATS keyword optimisation. LinkedIn headline, summary, skills endorsements and connection strategy. Personal brand: building credibility through writeups and community participation.
Technical mock interview panel: common SOC analyst and pen tester interview questions, live scenario questions ('walk me through how you would investigate this alert'), whiteboard problem solving. Salary negotiation tactics for junior cyber roles. Graduation ceremony, certificate award, and employer referral process.
Taught by Arnold — Code College founder, lead trainer and practitioner with 20+ years of developer and security training experience. Live sessions, not recordings.
Every topic has a corresponding lab exercise in your local VM environment. You build, break and defend real systems — building a portfolio of lab evidence from day one.
Attend in-person at Code College's Woodmead campus or join 100% live online from anywhere in South Africa. Both options deliver the same experience.
Earn the “Job-Ready + Full Bootcamp Certificate” Code College Digital Badge on passing the module assessment — immediately shareable to LinkedIn. Stack badges toward the full bootcamp certificate.
The full Cybersecurity Bootcamp Certificate is issued on completion of all 6 modules within any 24-month period. If you complete Module 6 but are still missing one or two earlier modules, you will receive the Module 6 'Job-Ready' digital badge and have up to 24 months from your first module to complete the remaining ones and claim the full certificate.
Code College maintains a network of cybersecurity employers built through 30+ years of IT recruitment via Compuways. On graduation, students who meet the quality threshold (capstone score ≥ 70%, professional CV, completed GitHub portfolio) receive a Code College endorsement letter and are introduced to relevant hiring managers in our network. This is not a job guarantee — it is a warm introduction.
Module 6 requires completion of at least Module 4 or 5. You may enter with 4 of the 6 modules complete, complete Module 6, and then finish the remaining modules within 24 months of your first enrolment to claim the full certificate. We do not recommend taking Module 6 with fewer than 4 modules complete as the capstone options assume significant prior lab experience.
Yes. The capstone project is peer-reviewed by your cohort and assessed by the lead instructor. A score of 70% or above is required to pass Module 6. Feedback is provided in writing. Students who do not reach 70% on the first submission receive a single revision opportunity before the cohort end date.
The most effective path: (1) earn at least two certifications — Security+ plus a specialist cert (CEH, CySA+ or ISC² CC); (2) build a portfolio of lab write-ups, CTF solutions and GitHub projects; (3) apply for roles titled “SOC analyst”, “IT security analyst” or “junior pen tester”. Module 6 covers CV writing, LinkedIn optimisation, portfolio building and mock interview coaching specific to South African hiring managers.
Yes. Employers look at the vendor certifications themselves — CompTIA Security+, CEH, CySA+ — not at where you trained. A Security+ carries the same weight from a bootcamp as from self-study. The Code College certificate demonstrates structured instructor-led training and is referenced alongside the vendor cert in your CV. Several of our alumni work at major South African banks, telecoms companies and cybersecurity consulting firms.
