No prior experience is required for Module 1 — IT & Networking Foundations. It is designed for absolute beginners and covers everything from the OSI model upwards. If you know what a router does, you are ready. You do not need programming knowledge to start.
Module 1 is the entry point for all paths. Module 2 requires Module 1 (or a placement assessment). Modules 3, 4 and 5 require Module 2. Module 6 requires completion of at least Module 4 or 5. If you hold relevant industry certifications (CompTIA Security+, CEH etc.), you may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and skip the corresponding module — a R500 placement test applies.
Each module fully prepares you for the corresponding certification exam. Individual module prices do not include the exam voucher — students purchase their own vouchers directly from CompTIA, EC-Council, or ISC². The Professional and Elite bootcamp tiers include exam vouchers for Security+ and (Elite tier) CySA+ as part of the package. Exam vouchers can also be purchased separately through Code College once CompTIA ATP status is obtained.
Students who complete all six modules within any 24-month period automatically receive the full Code College Cybersecurity Bootcamp Certificate — even if the modules were taken as separate enrolments over time. This allows part-time learners to build the qualification at their own pace without losing credit for prior modules.
Modules 1–3 and 5–6 run comfortably on a laptop with 8 GB RAM and an Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor (2018 or newer). Module 4 (Blue Team & SOC) runs Security Onion alongside multiple VMs and requires a minimum of 16 GB RAM. An Alfa AWUS036ACH USB Wi-Fi adapter (~R600) is required for the wireless hacking labs in Module 3. A full hardware guide is provided on enrolment.
Yes. All modules are delivered live online via virtual classroom or in-person at Code College's Johannesburg campus in Woodmead, Sandton. Both options deliver the same instructor-led experience. Part-time schedules are available for groups.
Any student who completes at least one Code College module receives a 20% alumni discount on subsequent modules enrolled within 36 months. The discount applies to the module's standalone price and is applied automatically on enrolment.
Start with Module 1 — IT & Networking Foundations. It assumes zero prior IT knowledge and covers how networks, operating systems and protocols work from scratch. Students who skip Module 1 and go straight to Module 2 often struggle with the technical foundations. If you already hold CompTIA Network+ or equivalent, you can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and begin at Module 2.
Yes — no degree is required. Our modules are designed for career changers, school leavers and professionals from non-IT fields. The certifications you work toward (CompTIA, EC-Council, ISC²) are industry-recognised globally and most South African cybersecurity job ads list certifications — not degrees — as the primary requirement. Your portfolio of hands-on lab work is what employers actually interview you on.
Yes. Each module and the full bootcamp can be submitted as a planned skills development expense against your company’s SDL (Skills Development Levy) obligation, provided it is included in your Workplace Skills Plan. We issue an official training provider letter and SDL-formatted quotation on request. Contact our corporate team for group enrolment pricing.
Take a single module or commit to the full bootcamp — either way you build real, employer-ready skills backed by globally recognised certifications.
