Code College is a coding education provider based in South Africa, offering bootcamps and professional short courses in software development. We act as the Responsible Party for all personal information processed through our platform.

3. Personal Information We Collect

When you submit an application or enquiry form on our website, we may collect:

  • Full name, email address, phone number and city
  • Course preferences, study mode, attendance preference and preferred start date
  • Payment method preference and pricing details
  • Motivation and how you heard about us
  • SA citizenship / permanent residency status
  • Hardware and financial readiness information
  • For Coding for Kids applications: learner's name, date of birth and school name
  • For Short Courses applications: company name and professional context
  • Your marketing communication preferences (opt-in / opt-out)
  • IP address and browser information (via reCAPTCHA and analytics)

4. How We Use Your Personal Information

  • Application processing — to review your course application and contact you about enrolment
  • Quotation generation — to provide a personalised course and pricing proposal
  • Communication — to respond to your enquiry and keep you updated on your application
  • CRM management — to manage our relationship with you as a prospective or enrolled student
  • Marketing — only if you have explicitly opted in, to send course updates, schedules and promotions
  • Legal compliance — to meet our obligations under South African law

5. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Consent — you have given us explicit consent by ticking the consent checkbox on our application forms
  • Contractual necessity — processing is required to take steps at your request prior to entering a training agreement
  • Legitimate interests — to manage and improve our courses and services, and to prevent fraud
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable South African law

6. Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may share it with the following service providers, who process data solely on our behalf:

  • Kommo CRM (kommo.com) — our customer relationship management platform, used to manage applications and follow-up communications
  • Resend (resend.com) — our email delivery service, used to send application confirmations and, where you have opted in, marketing emails
  • Google reCAPTCHA — used to protect our forms against spam and abuse, subject to Google's Privacy Policy
  • Google Analytics — used to analyse website traffic in aggregate, subject to Google's Privacy Policy
  • Legal authorities — where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights

7. Cross-Border Transfers

Some of our third-party service providers operate infrastructure outside South Africa. Resend processes email delivery via AWS infrastructure, and Kommo CRM stores data on its cloud servers. By submitting your information you consent to this transfer, which is protected by appropriate contractual safeguards with each provider.


8. How Long We Keep Your Information

  • Application records — retained for up to 3 years from the date of submission to support enrolment, re-enquiry and legal record-keeping requirements
  • Marketing contact list — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
  • Inactive records — reviewed and purged periodically; inactive records older than 5 years will be anonymised or deleted

9. Security of Personal Information

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS) across our website and admin systems
  • Restricted access to our admin systems, requiring authenticated login
  • Password hashing for all admin credentials
  • Use of reputable third-party platforms with their own security certifications
  • Regular review of access permissions and security practices

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to data subjects, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected individuals as required by POPIA.


10. Your Rights Under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction — request that inaccurate or incomplete information be corrected
  • Deletion — request erasure of your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations
  • Objection — object to the processing of your personal information, including for marketing purposes
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw your marketing consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email, or by contacting us directly
  • Complain — lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at www.inforeg.org.za

11. Cookies

Our website uses cookies for functionality and analytics. Session cookies are essential to the functioning of our forms and admin systems. Analytics cookies (via Google Analytics / Google Site Kit) help us understand how visitors use our site. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.


12. Children

Our Coding for Kids programme accepts applications for learners under the age of 18. In this case, personal information is collected from a parent or legal guardian, who provides consent on the learner's behalf. We collect only the minimum learner information required to process the application (name, date of birth, school). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from minors. If you believe a minor's information has been submitted without appropriate parental consent, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
